​JFTC report shows steady enforcement against subcontractor, business-partner abuse

( November 13, 2019, 09:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- The Japan Fair Trade Commission’s biannual report on subcontractor abuse has noted the regulator’s steady enforcement directed against large companies abusing their power at the expense of smaller suppliers and business partners. In the first half of the current fiscal year — April to September 2019 — the JFTC issued guidance in 4,913 instances. That was a slight decrease from the 5,035 in the same period in the previous year, which was a record number. In the most recent report, the commission said it issued four recommendations — a stronger form of enforcement than guidances — on the same level with previous years.The JFTC statement, in Japanese, is attached....
