US FTC's Bedoya says focus on location data, fraud in multiple languages, will continue

( September 21, 2022, 16:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Alvaro Bedoya, the newest member of the US Federal Trade Commission, said at the National Advertising Division that the FTC will continue to focus on the protection of location data, as well as pressuring tech companies to root out fraud on their platforms in languages other than English. "Today geolocation remains woefully unprotected – even though it is a portal to the most sensitive aspects of our lives," Bedoya said. "The Commission has said for over a decade that this sensitive information needs to be closely guarded. I hope it is clear from the Commission’s recent actions that we will do everything in our power to protect it with our existing tools."See document below....
