US CFTC should require more defendants to admit misconduct in settlements, Democratic member says

( September 19, 2022, 16:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Christy Goldsmith Romero, a Democratic member of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said more defendants should have to admit misconduct in settlements rather than being routinely allowed to neither admit nor deny wrongdoing. “Full accountability should mean that defendants admit that they have done something wrong,” she said. At the CFTC’s sister regulator, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, enforcement chief Gurbir Grewal recently said the agency would reconsider its practice of routinely permitting neither-admit-nor-deny settlements.See statement below....
