Germany's online casino tax draws EU state aid complaint

In submissions to the EU’s state aid regulator, seen by MLex, the EGBA says that physical casinos will gain an unfair advantage when the new tax of 5.3 percent on stakes wagered is applied to online operators only.Germany is favoring casinos and slot machine operators by imposing burdensome new taxation rules on their online counterparts in breach of EU state aid rules, according to a formal complaint by the trade association representing online gaming and betting operators in Europe....
