CFPB launches probe of US data broker industry that could expand FCRA enforcement

The CFPB is planning new rulemaking for the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the data broker probe is expected to inform that process, as well as uncover industry privacy abuses.In an action that could broaden the enforcement reach of a key US privacy law to data brokers, the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau launched an expansive probe today into the growing galaxy of companies that collect and market the personal information of Americans....
