Thailand, EU restart FTA talks after nine-year pause

( March 15, 2023, 09:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand and the EU will restart negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement, with the first round of discussions set to take place in the coming months, after which the European Commission will publish their text proposals. The EU is Thailand's fourth largest trading partner, and Thailand is the EU's 26th largest. With 42 billion euros of trade in goods both ways and 8 billion euros in services, the commission argues the EU is under-represented in many sectors. The previous talks were halted in 2014 due to the military takeover of Thailand, before steps toward democratization led to the EU and Thailand signing the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in late 2022.The press release can be found here....
