UK Competition Authority: Competition Commission confirms BAA airport sales

( July 19, 2011, 07:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK’s second-tier regulator, the Competition Commission, has today confirmed that BAA will have to sell off Stansted airport and then the airport at either Edinburgh or Glasgow. The sales process will start in three months. An earlier report demanding divestments was subject to legal challenge, with the CC seeing its findings ultimately reinstated by the Court of Appeal. BAA has said it will consider whether to seek "judicial review" of the decision given changes in competition as well as UK aviation policy since the original findings. The full CC statement follows.
