Worldcoin promises to pause activities in Spain pending Bavarian decision

( June 4, 2024, 15:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Worldcoin, a cryptocurrency initiative from OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman, has promised not to roll out in Spain until a data protection investigation in Germany is complete. The Spanish data protection authority opened an urgent GDPR probe in March into Tools for Humanity, the owner of Worldcoin. The project was already under investigation by the Bavarian state data watchdog. Worldcoin has now made a "legally binding commitment" to pause its activity in Spain until the end of the year, or until the Bavarian regulator makes a final decision.The statement follows....
