Plaintiffs seek class-action status in privacy litigation against Lenovo and Superfish

( July 22, 2016, 19:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Plaintiffs who filed privacy litigation against laptop maker Lenovo and its partner Superfish say the companies secretly installed software on the computers that tracked their owners online movements, but that the tracking affected all users in exactly the same way. Therefore, they said, US District Judge Ronald Whyte should certify a nationwide class of buyers of Lenovo laptops for the litigation. "This case turns on what Defendants did or failed to do — conduct that was the same as to all Class members — and thus Defendants’ liability should be determined on a classwide basis," the plaintiffs told Whyte in a recent court filing.Please see attached motion to certify class....
