Epic Games, Google spar over case schedule in US app store monopolization suit

( May 7, 2021, 20:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Epic Games asked a US judge to maintain the existing stipulated schedule for its antitrust litigation against Google over alleged monopolization of the market for distributing apps to Android users. Epic’s Fortnite game remains unavailable on the Google Play Store, the company said in a joint case management statement to the US District Court for the Northern District of California. In the same filing, Google refuted Epic Games' demand for a speedy trial. Google said its motion to dismiss the lawsuit raises threshold challenges and may impact case deadlines if an amendment is permitted. In addition, negotiations over the scope and content of third parties’ responses will take time. "Moreover, any harm Epic claims it suffered is of its own doing. Epic has admitted that it planned its intentional violation of Google Play policies well in advance of filing this lawsuit and was aware of the potential consequences," Google said.See attached document....
