​JFTC survey on abuse of superior bargaining position in IP sheds light on numerous unforeseen cases

( June 14, 2019, 08:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan Fair Trade Commission today issued the results of a survey on the state of abuses of superior bargaining position involving intellectual property. Over 15,000 businesses responded, revealing an environment where not just small- and medium-sized enterprises, but also large manufacturers, experienced unfair treatment of their intellectual property and know-how by their trading partners. The report said that while the JFTC expected conventional supplier complaints over such issues as metal molds, most of the IP issues involved questionable patent and licensing contracts, “many of which were not well-known previously.”The JFTC’s full report, in Japanese, is attached....
