Greek Competition Authority: JV in natural gas fired plant conditionally cleared

( June 2, 2009, 12:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Greek competition authority has conditionally cleared plans by Greek electricity utility Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Greek steel producer Halyvourgiki to set up a joint venture for the operation of an 880 MW natural gas fired plant. Under the conditions imposed, PPC is prevented from increasing its stake in the joint venture to more than the currrent level of 49 percent. Furthermore the board will consist of seven members, four of which belong to Halyvourgiki and three to PPC. The latter will have no executive powers.
