Visa, Plaid's proposed 15-week pre-trial period is 'infeasible,' US DOJ tells court

( November 20, 2020, 23:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Visa and Plaid have proposed an "infeasible" 15-week pre-trial period out of step with court practice, the US Department of Justice told the federal judge overseeing its challenge to the companies' proposed deal. The US doesn't object to an expedited case management conference requested by Visa and Plaid, the government said, but the companies "have refused to meaningfully engage on a case schedule and failed to properly seek a joint stipulation" supporting their motion. The court should order the parties to confer and file a joint case management statement, the filing said. "Rushing to trial and depriving the United States of adequate discovery will harm the American public by impeding the government’s case against a monopolist," the DOJ also wrote, proposing a Sept. 7, 2021 trial start date.See document attached....
