ComparetheMarket wins appeal against UK antitrust fine over home-insurance clauses

( August 8, 2022, 11:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Price-comparison website ComparetheMarket has succeeded in overturning the UK antitrust regulator's infringement decision against it for using clauses to stop home insurers from quoting lower prices on rival websites. The Competition Appeal Tribunal backed the challenge, in which the site had argued that the Competition and Markets Authority had erred in its legal and evidential assessment of the case. In 2020, the CMA fined ComparetheMarket 17.9 million pounds after finding its "most favored nation" clauses caused consumers to miss out on better home-insurance deals.Ruling attached....
