Raw-aluminum import duties should be lifted, industry says

( June 11, 2019, 21:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The EU should lift import tariffs on primary and unwrought aluminum, said the Federation of Aluminium Consumers in Europe when opening a campaign in Brussels this week. To support its campaign, FACE published a report, which says that maintaining import tariffs on the raw metal cost the downstream aluminum sector as much as 18 billion euros extra between 2000 and 2017. FACE is calling on the European Commission and the Council of the EU to decide on the total suspension of the import tariffs, to end the “abnormal overpricing of aluminum in Europe.”Statement follows. ...
