Peters' contract with PFD Food was designed to squeeze out competition, Australian enforcer alleges

In a statement today, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it had commenced proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, alleging that the iconic Australian ice-cream maker had engaged in exclusive dealing by entering into an agreement with PFD Food Services. "Companies need to compete by having better ice creams, not by excluding their competitors," Sims said. Peters Ice Cream, the iconic Australian company founded by an expatriate American in 1907, will have to defend itself in court from allegations that it hindered or prevented competition for the supply of single-wrapped ice-creams to gasoline and convenience retailers across the country....
