Spanish individuals get GDPR fines over data minimization and information obligation

( February 22, 2023, 14:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Spanish Data Protection Authority has fined two private individuals for breaching Articles 5.1(c) and 13 of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation by processing data via video surveillance systems. In the first case, a police officer noticed that a surveillance camera in the window of that person's house was oriented toward the parking lot, the regulator said. This person was fined 600 euros. In the second case, the person was fined 1,200 euros for operating two cameras that were capturing images of public roads, the regulator said. In both cases, the controllers failed to comply with the principle of data minimization and lacked informative signs about the use of a surveillance system, the regulator said.The decisions are attached in Spanish. ...
