CFTC charges virtual currency issuer in latest case brought by regulator

By Neil Haggerty ( January 24, 2018, 15:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission has charged Las Vegas, Nevada-based virtual currency issuer My Big Coin Pay, as well as Randall Crater and Mark Gillespie, with misappropriating over $6 million from customers by transferring customer funds into personal bank accounts and using those funds for personal expenses and the purchase of luxury goods. The case is at least the third brought by the commodities regulator in the last two weeks. A Massachusetts federal judge issued a restraining order and froze the defendants' assets.Statement follows....
