Japan e-ticket vendor Peatix reports data breach involving information of 6.8 million users

( November 18, 2020, 03:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: Japan’s e-ticket vendor and events management service Peatix announced that a data breach may have affected the personal information of up to 6.8 million of its users. The company said the names, email and passwords of Peatix account holders were accessed on Oct. 16 to 17, which the company realized on Nov. 9. It was not aware of the breach extending to physical addresses, phone numbers, payment information, event history and other survey data. Japanese press reports said local municipalities who issued shopping and travel vouchers as part of their COVID aid through Peatix, may have also been affected by the breach.
