Electric-car sales in Europe topped China last year, IEA says, forecasting more 'strong' growth

In 2020, electric car registrations in Europe more than doubled to 1.4 million, while in China they increased by 9 percent to 1.2 million, the report found. Last year, in spite of the market shock caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the global sales of electric cars grew by over 40 percent, it found, stressing the sector is “on track” for a decade of “strong expansion.”Statement follows.
