Google seeks dismissal of Illinois privacy lawsuit over Google Assistant recordings

( September 30, 2019, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google is asking an Illinois state judge to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the company of violating the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act by retaining voice recordings of users of Google Assistant-enabled Internet of Things devices or smartphones. BIPA regulates "voiceprints," not voice recordings, Google argued. Even voiceprints "only fall under BIPA’s scope if they are used to identify a person but plaintiffs do not allege that voiceprints or any other data was used to identify them or anyone at all," Google said.See document below....
