Fiber broadband group says EU should address regulatory hurdles to deployment

( June 5, 2019, 07:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The migration from old copper lines to fiber-optic broadband with superfast speeds is "very patchy" in EU countries, with most of them lacking a strategy for copper switch-off, the association of fiber-optic broadband operators has said. Setting out its priorities for the new European Commission and European Parliament this year, FTTH Council Europe said it would put forward solutions to tackle regulatory hurdles, which “prevent Europe from becoming a full-fiber continent.” The group also elected Kees de Waard, of the Netherlands' Skylane Optics, as its new president.Statement follows....
