LockBit ransomware developer named, sanctioned in UK, US, Australia

( May 7, 2024, 14:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Russian national Dmitry Khoroshev has been named as the leader of what was “once the world’s most harmful cyber crime group.” Sanctions against Khoroshev, the developer of the LockBit ransomware group, have been announced today by the UK’s foreign office alongside US and Australian counterparts. LockBit provided ransomware-as-a-service to a global network of hackers or ‘affiliates’, supplying them with the tools and infrastructure to carry out attacks. In February, the National Crime Agency announced it had infiltrated the group’s network and taken control of its services, including its leak site on the dark web, compromising the entire criminal enterprise.Statement below....
