Propane distributors, retailers face Brazilian cartel inquiry

( August 25, 2016, 12:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Liquid petroleum gas distributors and retailers operating in northeast Brazil have come under antitrust scrutiny for an alleged cartel. Antitrust officials suspect companies, such as Companhia Ultragaz, Copagaz Distribuidora de Gás and Liquigás Distribuidora, colluded to fix prices and carve up the market in the region. The Administrative Council for Economic Defense, or CADE, opened a formal probe today and will now notify the companies to submit defenses. Two companies - GLP Minasgás Indústria e Comércio and Supergasbras Energia - have already signed settlement agreements with the regulator.Read the statement and OJ entry in Portuguese below:...
