EPIC says Ninth Circuit should revive privacy suit against Facebook over medical data

( September 26, 2017, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Electronic Privacy Information Center submitted an amicus brief urging the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to reinstate a privacy suit alleging Facebook and a group of health organizations violated federal and state privacy laws by collecting health data entered on the groups' websites. EPIC says that notice of data collection does not establish consent from a user, and even if it did, that consent is limited by Facebook's settlement with the Federal Trade Commission in 2012. See document below. ...
