Voce withdraws Argo director nominations as state insurance regulators oppose proxy

( May 21, 2019, 13:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: Activist investor Voce Capital Management has withdrawn its nomination of directors for the board of insurance company Argo Group after two state departments of insurance revoked their approval for the proxy solicitation. Voce blamed Argo "lobbying" for causing Virginia and Illinois to revoke their prior approval of the vote, saying in a statement: "Argo’s Board has now disenfranchised its shareholders by helping foment uncertainty as to whether votes cast against it at the Annual Meeting will even be counted." San Francisco-based Voce had nominated five board seats at Bermuda-based Argo.Statement follows below:...
