Roche, Novartis fined EUR182.5 million over sales of eye treatments in Italy

( March 5, 2014, 07:23 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Italian competition authority has imposed fines of 182.5 million euros on Roche and Novartis for colluding in the sale of drugs used for treating eye illnesses. The regulator said the companies steered purchasers to the more expensive drug Lucentis, and restricted sales of the cheaper Avastin. Roche was fined 90.5 million euros, and Novartis must pay 92 million euros.
