US urged to step up climate action by EU policymakers, business representatives

( April 13, 2021, 09:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of 100 European policymakers, business leaders, industry associations and think tanks has today called on the US to halve its greenhouse-gas emissions within the next decade, compared to 2005 emission levels. In a joint statement issued ahead of next week’s climate summit organized by President Joe Biden, the group — led by EU environment lawmaker Pascal Canfin — said the EU and the US should embark on common reforms to reach climate neutrality. “We have to strengthen our cooperation and work together to clean our energy systems, take additional steps to green our financial systems, deploy zero-emission vehicles and accelerate the renovation of buildings,” the group said.A statement is attached....
