Texas Supreme Court overturns defamation ruling

( May 15, 2015, 15:48 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Texas’s highest court has overturned a ruling issued by Houston's First Court of Appeals which permitted a defamation claim against Shell to stand. Ex-employee Robert Whitt sued Shell for defamation claiming the report which it had produced for the Department of Justice  as part of its internal investigation, had him cited as engaging in illegal activity.Having initially had his suit dismissed by the trail court, the Houston appeals court re-instated his right to pursua his defamation suit, stating that the content of the report merited only ‘qualified priviledge’ status. However, the Supreme Court agreed today with Shell that the report provided to the DOJ consituted as "absolutely privileged"....
