US sugar producers use USDA sugar program to refute refiners' supply concerns

( February 27, 2015, 21:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The American Sugar Coalition on Friday submitted a letter to the US International Trade Commission urging the agency to conclude that the suspension agreement between the US and Mexico completely eliminates injury to the domestic sugar market. In the letter, the group of US sugar producers challenged two refiners' argument that the deal would lead to a shortage of raw sugar. If raw sugar imports from Mexico decline, "additional raw sugar will be supplied through an increase by USDA in the TRQ amounts," the group said.See document below....
