TPG Telecom's network-sharing deal with Optus Mobile faces regulatory scrutiny

( April 29, 2024, 05:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australian telecommunications companies TPG Telecom and Optus Mobile have announced a regional network-sharing deal designed to extend TPG’s 4G and 5G mobile networks, which plan to cover 98.4 percent of Australia’s population. In a joint statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, the companies said they would create a regional multi-operator core network to extend TPG’s coverage, in a network-sharing deal designed to “avoid unnecessary capital investment.” The deal will require clearance from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission, which last year opposed a similar deal involving TPG and Telstra.
