Draft law for passenger transport sector to hurt competition, French antitrust authority finds

( December 20, 2013, 10:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French competition authority has issued an opinion on a draft law for the passenger transport sector, finding that the proposal is likely to trigger competition distortions. The law would require Paris passenger transport companies to stick to a 15-minute-delay between reservation and the actual transport of the customer what would discrimate against them since normal taxi companies wouldn't need to do the same. The regulator is therefore suggesting to renounce to the amendments and to allow taxi companies to suggest a more liberal tariff system in the market for prior reservation to allow them to compete with other service suppliers offering more flexible fees.Full statement in the French original follows:...
