Nexstar-Tribune deal secures approval along party lines at US FCC

( September 16, 2019, 17:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Nexstar Media and Tribune Media's planned merger received approval today from the US Federal Communications Commission in a party-line vote, with Democratic Commissioners Jessica Rosenworcel and Geoffrey Starks opposing the deal. Starks said creating such a large broadcaster "runs counter to our fundamental tenets of promoting competition, localism and diversity." Republican Commissioner Michael O'Rielly said the chairman should have directed staff to issue the order, and he was concerned about many divestitures required by the US Department of Justice.See document attached....
