Petrobras pays $2.95 billion to settle US investor corruption claims

( January 3, 2018, 10:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Petróleo Brasileiro has agreed to pay $2.95 billion to settle claims from US investors who say they lost money as a result of corruption at the Brazilian state-controlled oil company. Petrobras has denied any wrongdoing as part of the agreement, which has to be signed off by a US judge. "The agreement is in the company’s best interest and that of its shareholders, given the risks of a verdict advised by a jury, particularities of US procedure and securities laws, as well its assessment of the status of the class action," the company said in a statement. The full Petrobras statement follows....
