Australian energy regulator criticized for contradicting rulings on electricity prices

AER ruled on April 30 to cut power bills by up to 12 percent. However, Networks NSW, which runs electricity businesses Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, and Essential Energy, said it received letters from the AER dated May 13 stating that the regulator had discovered the errors and "therefore considers it appropriate to revoke the determination ... and substitute with a new determination". But shortly afterwards, the AER fired off its own statement claiming it "has not revoked its determinations," prompting criticism from Networks NSW....
