France, Portugal failed to fully adopt new rules on buildings' energy performance, EU Commission says

( January 26, 2023, 14:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: France and Portugal have failed to fully transpose the latest EU rules on the energy performance of buildings into national law, the European Commission has said. In 2018, the EU executive changed the 2010 directive to introduce new elements such as minimum energy performance requirements for new buildings, electromobility and recharging points, and new rules on the inspection of heating and air-conditioning systems. In 2020, the commission asked them to address the issue. While both countries replied and took some action, the regulator found them insufficient and has given both two more months to act or face court actions.Press release follows....
