​China says Australia shows 'protectionist tendencies' in blocking Ausgrid deal

( August 17, 2016, 08:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia’s rejection of the sale of a 99-year lease of 50.4 percent of Ausgrid to China’s state-owned State Grid Corp and Hong Kong-based Cheung Kong Infrastructure showed obvious protectionist tendencies, Shen Danyang, spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said today at a press briefing. Shen said the move will have a severe impact on the enthusiasm of Chinese investors, and that the Chinese government is very concerned about the issue.
