Virginia statehouse approves facial recognition law

( April 8, 2021, 00:07 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Virginia General Assembly adopted technical changes requested late last month by Governor Ralph Northam to a bill restricting law-enforcement use of facial recognition. The bill, HB 2031, prohibits local law enforcement agencies and campus police departments from purchasing or using facial recognition technology unless expressly permitted by the General Assembly. The House voted for the amended bill 99-1 and the Senate voted unanimously in favor. The bill now goes back to Northam's desk for final signature.See document below....
