Hyundai, Kia, LG Energy Solution among companies to take part in South Korea's pilot EV-battery safety certification system

( October 15, 2024, 08:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hyundai Motor Company, Kia and EV-battery maker LG Energy Solution are among five companies that will participate in a pilot EV-battery safety certification system. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the companies signed a memorandum of understanding with the ministry and the Korea Automobile Testing and Research Institute to take part in 12 rounds of pilot tests, including thermal-shock tests, combustion tests, overheating-prevention tests, short-circuit tests and overcharge tests. The government plans to fully implement the EV-battery safety certification system by February 2025 and will require mobility companies to pass safety tests and obtain government-issued certification.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
