Federal Circuit affirms PTAB nixing of IV WiFi patent in dispute with Ericsson

( August 16, 2016, 16:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has affirmed without explanation a May 2015 decision by the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board invalidating a WiFi patent owned by Intellectual Ventures because it was obvious and anticipated by prior art. Swedish telecom giant Ericsson had petitioned the PTAB to invalidate the patent after IV sued several companies for allegedly infringing the patent, which covers the implementation of security protocols on transmissions over wired and wireless networks.Please see order below....
