Birmingham NHS trust merger was 'unusual' but necessary case, NHS watchdog says

( September 18, 2017, 13:06 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The merger between the respective NHS trusts of University Hospitals Birmingham and Heart of England was an 'unusual' case as improvements already seen through the trusts' consolidation allowed advice to given with more certainty, regulator NHS Improvement has said. The watchdog today released the advice it provided to the Competition and Markets Authority, which played a part in the merger's clearance last month.
