Google hit with new antitrust suit over alleged monopolization of Android apps

( October 21, 2020, 23:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google has been sued by plaintiffs from Illinois and California in a suit that accuses the maker of the Android operating system of illegally monopolizing apps distributed through the Google Play app store. In the third antitrust suit filed in federal court in San Francisco in 24 hours, Daniel Carroll and other plaintiffs allege that "Google, using its control of the Android OS, has taken a series of steps to make it nearly impossible for a consumer with a device that has a licensable smart mobile OS to purchase an app from any platform other than the Google Play Store. As a result, Google now has been able to maintain a monopoly over the market for the distribution of apps compatible with licensable smart mobile OSs."See attached complaint....
