Israeli cybersecurity consultancy Konfidas said the rules were a heavy compliance burden for firms dealing with the private data of individuals in the European region, either directly or as a service for another company. Failure to comply could entail fines amounting to 2 to 4 percent of annual turnover or 10 million to 22 million euros (up to $23.5 million), whichever is higher. The new regulation also gives individuals the right to check how their data is used and whether it is being used lawfully....
