Lithuanian Railways fails to overturn EU court ruling in antitrust case over train track

( January 12, 2023, 09:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Lithuanian railways Lietuvos geležinkeliai has lost its challenge to a European Commission antitrust fine, the EU Court of Justice has said. In 2020, a lower court cut the company's initial fine by 28 percent to just over 20 million euros, and a further appeal against this ruling today failed. Lietuvos geležinkeliai was fined for removing 19 kilometers of track, but the Court of Justice said today the regulator was correct to see this as an abuse of market power without analyzing it as a "refusal of access" case.Press release and judgment are attached....
