​Philippine Bitcoin transactions, virtual-currency exchange applications on the rise

( December 15, 2017, 06:00 GMT | Insight) -- The use of Bitcoins and applications seeking to operate new Bitcoin exchanges in the Philippines are increasing, with transactions now averaging over $8 million a month and 12 virtual-currency exchange applications currently under review by the central bank, The Manila Times reports.The use of Bitcoins and applications seeking to operate new Bitcoin exchanges in the Philippines are increasing, with transactions now averaging over $8 million a month and 12 virtual-currency exchange applications currently under review by the central bank, The Manila Times reports. The head of the central bank’s Core Information Technology Specialist Group said the data comes from Rebittance Inc. and coins.ph, so far the only two Bitcoin exchanges that have been approved to operate in the country. The central bank, which released a regulatory framework for virtual-currency exchanges early this year, said, however, that it was still not endorsing the use of Bitcoins and would be issuing an advisory to the general public soon....
