EU plans for global e-commerce rules published

The European Commission published its ideas for World Trade Organization rules to guarantee the international validity of e-contracts and e-signatures, boost consumers' trust in the online environment, introduce measures to tackle spam and barriers preventing cross-border sales as well as permanently ban customs duties on electronic transmissions. The text will be discussed alongside proposals from other WTO members during meetings planned to take place from May 13 to 15 in Geneva.Statement follows.
