Indonesian Constitutional Court judge jailed, fined for taking bribes from meat importer
( September 5, 2017, 10:14 GMT | Insight) -- The Jakarta Anticorruption Court has ordered former Constitutional Court judge Patrialis Akbar to serve eight years in jail, pay a fine of 300 million rupiah ($22,500) and pay compensation $10,000 and 4 million rupiah for taking bribes from meat importer Impexindo Pratama owner Basuki Hariman, Antara and the Jakarta Post report.The Jakarta Anticorruption Court has ordered former Constitutional Court judge Patrialis Akbar to serve eight years in jail, pay a fine of 300 million rupiah ($22,500) and pay compensation $10,000 and 4 million rupiah for taking bribes from meat importer Impexindo Pratama owner Basuki Hariman, Antara and the Jakarta Post report. A panel of judges ruled that Akbar had taken at least $10,000 from Hariman in return for a favorable outcome in a judicial review of Law No. 41 of 2014 on animal husbandry and livestock health, Antara reported. The court also punished Kamaludin, the middleman in the bribery case, who was supposed to distribute $50,000 from Hariman, to seven years in prison, the Jakarta Post reported. Last week, the court jailed Hariman and his employee Ng Fenny for seven and five years, respectively. The Corruption Eradication Commission is planning to file an appeal to increase the punishment for Fenny, Antara reported....
