Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said the US considered Thailand’s regulatory regimes “old-fashioned” and in need of upgrading before it could join the world’s most high-level liberalization pact. The American Chamber of Commerce said it fully supported Thailand’s joining the TPP to replace the existing Generalized System of Preferences trading scheme, which was becoming outdated. Thai government sources have indicated that the country is highly likely to join the pact, as foreign investors eagerly await a formal decision.       ...
