CADE Superintendence recommends Tribunal reject Reckitt Benckiser-Hypermarcas deal as-is

( August 1, 2016, 13:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The lower unit of the Brazilian competition watchdog, the Superintendence, today recommended the agency's Tribunal to reject Reckitt Benckiser's plan, in its current form, to buy Hypermarcas' lubricant and condom brands Olla, Jontex and Lovetex. They said that after the deal, Reckitt Benckiser will hold the main brands in the lucricant and condom markets, KY and Durex, respectively. Antitrust officials also said that the lubricant market is highly concentrated and no brand will be capable of competing with Reckitt Benckiser after the deal. The Superintendence referred the deal to the agency's Tribunal for a final decision on whether to approve it.CADE statement follows in English and Portuguese....
