​​BlueScope Steel and former manager face cartel lawsuit in Australia

( August 29, 2019, 23:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australian steel company BlueScope Steel is facing civil court action over alleged cartel conduct, after Australia's competition regulator announced today it has instituted court proceedings against the company. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has alleged that BlueScope and its former general manager of sales and marketing, Jason Ellis, attempted to induce various steel distributors in Australia and foreign manufacturers to enter agreements containing a price-fixing provision for flat steel products. ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said the matter involved allegations of "serious cartel conduct."
